After sucking at every sport growing up and being picked last in gym class... I gave running a try in 8th grade and finished last on the team with a 27 minute 5K time. The following year I was out to prove something and became the number 1 cross country runner on my high school team with a sub 18 minute 5K time. I have not given up competitive running ever since. The longest stretch of no running was due to injury (about 3 months). I'm not that fast nor am I that competitive. I just love what running has given me and continues to give me.

I've tried many sports. Baseball and soccer has way to many rules to remember. Hockey and skiing required coordination and balance which translated into a lot of falling and bruising. Racquetball and tennis resulted in high speed collisions with solid objects. Then came running.
